Kailyn Bryant (b. Birmingham, AL) engages with an interdisciplinary practice that examines the interconnected relationships between materials, environments, and human systems. Rooted at the intersection of materiality, cultural ecologies, and queerness, Bryant’s work considers how these systems interact, transform, and coexist. Through her work, Bryant challenges conventional notions of utility, prompting viewers to reconsider their relationships with objects and the spaces they inhabit. She believes that the objects we encounter daily often become those we choose to love. Possessing the power to bring us together or push us apart.

Bryant holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Furniture Design from the Rhode Island School of Design. She is the recipient of the RISD Museum’s 2025 Dorner Prize (Providence, RI) and was recently awarded the RISD Furniture Department’s Charlotte Perriand Award. Bryant’s work has been featured in a wide range of exhibitions, including Grounding Space at ICFF’s Wanted Design (Manhattan, NY, 2025), This Must be the Place at Rhode Island School of Design’s President’s House (Providence, RI, 2025), Spotlighting Women In Design at East 33 Gallery (Providence, RI, 2025), and the Black Biennial at the Gelman Gallery in Providence, RI (2024).
